EPHA capacity buidling programme

In line with EPHA’s mission – to promote and protect the health of all people living in Europe and to advocate for greater participation of citizens in health-related policy making at the European level - EPHA’s capacity building effort in Central, Eastern, South-East Europe mbraces three overarching aims:

1. To strengthen the public health voice 2. To strengthen civil society 3. To demonstrate the value of civil society

EPHA strives for NGOs to become more politically active by stimulating a multi-stakeholder dialogue between civil society actors (e.g., NGOs, academics, and professionals), politicians and other relevant health stakeholders on current and future challenges and opportunities.

EPHA approach to capacity building activities

EPHA’s past research and activities have shown that the situation greatly differs between countries. While in some, collaboration between governmental and non-governmental actors is already relatively established; in other countries this is not the case for several reasons that are relevant for different actors. Therefore EPHA will develop tailored approaches and objectives depending on the location and target audience.

Report on EPHA capacity building seminar in Hungary

On 3 October 2012, EPHA organised a capacity building seminar in Hungary aimed at giving participants a taste of what the European Union does, how it works, what ’advocacy’ means in practice, and how Hungarian organisations can take part. EPHA Professional Development Programme 2012-13: Join an EU health advocacy training!

In October 2012, EPHA will launch its 5th Professional Development Programme, which aims to train those new to the ’EU bubble’ to get an introduction to the European Union and more particularly to European health advocacy. Increasing capacities to deliver effective public health: WHO consults

The World Health Organisation Europe Region consults and draws the European Public Health Action Plan for strengthening public health capacities and services. Applications opened for two-year Roma health fellowship/mentorship at EPHA

The deadline to apply was the 12 March 2012.
