On Wednesday the 15th of February 2012, the European Union and the United States signed an agreement on their organic food certification. First of its kind, the agreement will create further opportunities for what represent 90% of the organic consumption market worldwide.
From 1 June 2012, organic products certified in the United States or in the European Union may be sold as an organic in both regions. While the use of antibiotics was in the past authorised for specific products in the US as well as in the EU, it is now fully forbidden. This represents a clear improvement in terms of public health.
