EPHA’s Secretary General Fiona Godfrey is among top experts in Commission’s Mission Board for Cancer

Brussels, 31 July 2019. EPHA Secretary General Fiona Godfrey will join the European Commission’s Mission Board for Cancer, announced yesterday Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation, Carlos Moedas.

The mission will be part of Horizon Europe, and is composed of 15 experts tasked with providing “an additional pool of ideas, knowledge and expertise”. Ms Godfrey was chosen among over 350 applicants from across the EU and beyond.

“I am delighted and honoured to have been appointed to the Mission Board for Cancer. In polls, 70% of EU citizens say they want the EU to play a bigger role in developing health policy and this groundbreaking new Mission will help to answer that call. I will work to ensure that the interests of citizens are placed at the heart of its work and that the key role of prevention is integrated into the mission from the start,” commented Ms Godfrey.

Work on the mission will start in September.
