New medicines: For better or worse?

Lunch event Wednesday | Member Salon European Parliament

15 July 2015 | 12h30 – 14h30

**PLEASE NOTE: This event is now FULLY BOOKED**

Several studies carried out at EU member state level indicate that the
majority of medicines authorized for use have little to no added therapeutic
value (ATV) in comparison to existing treatments. This is cause
for concern because it means that public money is being spent on new,
costly medicines which have limited added therapeutic value, while urgently
needed medicines such as antibiotics are failing to be developed.

Following the study of the ENVI committee in the European Parliament on a
harmonised EU approach on the assessment of the added therapeutic value
of medicines in the European Union we organize this lunch event. This lunch
event will create more insight into the different perspectives on ATV and will
try to create common ground for ambitious policies on the assessment of
ATV of our medicines.
