World Health Day 2012 – EPHA members react

The World Health Day was celebrated last April 07, marking the anniversary of the founding of WHO in 1948. “Ageing and health” was this year’s topic, focused on the theme “Good health adds life to years”. Noting the occasion, a number of organisations stressed the importance of the day.

On the occasion of World Health Day 2012, Mental Health Europe (MHE) issued a press release on the importance of mental health for growth and called for the EU to include mental health and the priorities set out in the European Pact for Mental Health and Well-being in the Health for Growth Programme 2014-2020.

In parallel, AGE Platform Europe and the WHO issued a joint press release on this day, showing a strong commitment to promote active and healthy ageing in Europe by encouraging stakeholders to join forces in creating age-friendly communities.

In light of this year’s World Health Day theme on Ageing and health and the European Innovative Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing, the European Federation of Nurses Associations (EFN), issued a press release highlighting the importance of a competent nursing workforce in enhancing the continuity of care and implementing sustainable integrated models of health care.
