Healthy Environments

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are the 21st century’s foremost health issue, responsible for the vast majority of premature deaths and diseases in Europe. Today’s dominant food system is unsustainable: it is eroding health, fuelling the climate emergency, disrupting ecosystems and reinforcing socio-economic inequities. Mobility is also an unsustainable sector, with a car-dominant modal split that has a negative impact on air quality and climate change. It is also the case with domestic heating and cooking. The best solution to tackle air pollution is to end the use of fossil-fuel devices or vehicles and replaced them with sustainable alternatives.
